Board & Batten Exterior Real Wood Siding

Board and batten siding is a classic real wood exterior siding choice. It creates a vertical design, using wide boards spaced apart with narrower "battens." (This style of natural wood siding is also known as "barn siding.")

Depending on your needs, you can choose from several board and batten widths:

Boards: 8”, 10”, 12”

Partiicle board is a generic term.

With houses over 120yrs old "particle board" is a relativly new building material as it depends on new glue mixes and the rising costs of plywood drove a need for a cheaper substitute. Stuff we used to call "Oxboard" was/is? a particle board or "chipboard"and has huge visable wood chips, and a heavy clear almost plastic looking coat on the weather facing side and is 1/2 in thick, usually used for wall sheeting, but you could use it over a subfloor--a pre luan- it leveled a sub floor ok.
Then you get into particle boards that are basically a mixture of resins and wood dusts of different grain size and densitys, no visible wood chips in the board
