Vinyl siding is durable, maintenance free and comes with a long warranty that is transferable to the next owner of the home. Most vinyl siding has a warranty good for 20 plus years! With over 20 color options vinyl siding is the best and most cost effective way to make your home look more up to date.

These grated vents get clogged with dust and dirt, wasp nest residue, allergens, and many other clogging elements. Once clogged your attic can no longer “breathe” which in turn causes mildew and sometimes mold to grow in your attic. At Home Contracting actually cuts these vents out and makes ports for better air circulation throughout your attic and then we cover the old wooden soffit using VENTED vinyl panels. So you not only gain the practical benefits of the soffit but you also gain a new look! The soffit is usually a different color than the siding and offsets the main color of the home. The picture above another good look at soffit. This house has porch soffit as well.

Fiber Cement Siding or Hardie Board®

Another siding option is cement siding also known as Hardie Board. If you have a colonial style house or an old style home and you want to keep the look this is the way to go. Fiber Cement siding is not as cost efficient as vinyl but it has a longer warranty and adds a different look to your home.

Anyone know siding options and costs?

I am looking to buy the ugliest house on the street with the intention of getting a good deal. It needs a new look, because it has vinyl siding now, while the rest of the neighborhood is stone, brick, or stucco. Any ideas about a cost affective material that would bring the look up to the rest of the neighborhood?
