  • Avatar Jonathan W How to install wood stove?
Apr 16, 2013 by Jonathan W | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

I have a small new wood stove, and I would like to install it in my basement. I already have a chimney with a flue that has been inspected. I need to learn how to set it up and protect the walls near it, etc. Not having much luck with online resources. The setup will be an "L" shaped exhaust from the top of the stove into a hole in the side of the chimney. Any forums or other resources that are handy?

    • Go to the local wood stove retailer and purchase a maintenance and Installation manual for your stove. Also read the local fire codes and the inspection paperwork from the AHJ. Much of what you want to learn is in these sources.

  • Avatar steve42rich With vinly siding what is the best staple?
    Sep 18, 2012 by steve42rich | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

To use attaching it to wood and how long should it be thanks
The siding is going on the upper part of a brick house iam only doing the end's of the attic part and eve's of the house

    • The siding must be able to "float",that is freely move back and forth as it expands and contracts,,,if it were stapled it would not move and would bulge,,,the nails should be put in the center of the elongated holes and NOT driven down tight so as to allow it to move

Start in a corner with the least door openings.Install shims which will be in the kit you need to purchase seperatly.Put down the fi …oard will need to be cut in half to achieve this.Once you have gone this far into the project it is basically like puting together a puzzle.A special tool and a block will also be nessesary. These tools are under 10 bucks

  • Avatar bouffe How do I install hardwood oak floors- 5 /16 thick by gluing it down?
Apr 23, 2006 by bouffe | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

Please list all the things I need to get this project done.

    • Although not perfect, plastic laminate flooring is as near as it gets. It is durable, stain and cigarette-burn resistant. You can actually wipe off streaks from an indelible marker - great around young children. I do not … most prone to failure over all others. Some of the more common reasons include; improper adhesives used, improper/no floor preparation, or not enough applied that results in de-bonding of the material from the subfloor.
