  • Avatar Jonathan W How to install wood stove?
Apr 16, 2013 by Jonathan W | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

I have a small new wood stove, and I would like to install it in my basement. I already have a chimney with a flue that has been inspected. I need to learn how to set it up and protect the walls near it, etc. Not having much luck with online resources. The setup will be an "L" shaped exhaust from the top of the stove into a hole in the side of the chimney. Any forums or other resources that are handy?

    • Go to the local wood stove retailer and purchase a maintenance and Installation manual for your stove. Also read the local fire codes and the inspection paperwork from the AHJ. Much of what you want to learn is in these sources.
