Modern cedar shed

I liked how the different colors of the cedar are enhanced by the shorter lengths on the doors. The doors are approximately 60 inches wide.

The aluminum U-channel provided a clean edge and made installation much easier than a mitered joint. I was concerned that the miters would open over time.

The galvanized trim was a special order from Menards.

The roof slopes 6 inches over 8 feet. galvanized roofing is attached on 2 by 4 purlins at 16 inch spacing.

Our home is a flat-roofed midcentury modern design, so when it came time to build a shed, the roof needed to be flat (or nearly flat) to fit with our house style. I chose to use 6 by 6 timbers for the foundation, and the floor inside is crushed gravel. The siding is cedar tongue and groove, and the roof and back wall are corrugated galvanized steel. r the front corners, I used 3/4 inch aluminum U-channel to cover the edges of the front siding, and butted the side siding into that, as detailed in the photo. I decided to build two swinging doors for access, aesthetics, and cost. I had originally planned on buildign a sliding barn door, but I was concerned about security and the functionality of one large door--the main purpose of one half of the shed is to house our large walk-behind mower.

Well shucks, this area was developed

In 1850. I live on the main road, that was back when this road was the only way into town. Now they have a highway about two miles from here for people to get around on. My project is to make the outside of the house, complete with barn wood and cedar siding. The roof is "new" 20qa. corrigated steel. It is cold rolled and is already starting to rust. The inside is very modern, all new. The all new inside idea was my wifes! The outside is all done.....go figure!
